Access arrangements online

Access arrangements online is a new system that allows you to submit all GCSE and GCE access arrangements applications quickly and efficiently online.

Developed in collaboration with AQA, CCEA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and the JCQ, Access arrangements online replaces the existing systems for both centre-delegated and awarding body-approved access arrangements.

All applications  for access arrrangements should now be completed using Access arrangements online. Centres will no longer be able to record centre-delegated access arrangements using the CDAA and modified papers tool. However, centres will still be able to use that tool to order modified papers and read previously recorded arrangements.

Awarding bodies will honour existing awarding body-approved paper applications for access arrangements that have been approved during the past two years, until their expiry, so you do not need to re-apply.

The user training guide and a training version of Access arrangements online are now available. More training and support will be available from NAA centre support officers during the autumn term.

Using the training guide

The user training guide is available as a PowerPoint slideshow and is designed to be used alongside the training version of the system. The guide has an option on each slide to print the page: in order to use this option, you need to have macro security levels in PowerPoint set to medium or low and macros enabled.

Go to the user training guide

Tip: to change your macro security setting:

  • open PowerPoint:
  • click on tools and then options
  • go to the security tab and click on macro security
  • select medium security level.

    Getting started

Access arrangements online can be accessed via any of the awarding body secure websites. A single application per candidate is all that's needed. Applications made via any of the sites below will be available to all of the other awarding bodies to view.

The majority of cases will receive an instant decision from the system. Any complex cases, known as awarding body referrals, will be forwarded to a panel for a decision. Centres should allow sufficient time for an awarding body to consider the circumstances. You can monitor the progress of these cases on the system while you await the decision.
