The Continuing the learning journey training package, comprising a DVD and explanatory printed materials, is designed to help settings give children a positive experience of the transition from the EYFS to key stage 1 and show how to make effective use of information gathered through EYFS profiles.

It is for use by all practitioners, support staff and other members of management/governing bodies at settings, especially those concerned with the transition between EYFS and key stage 1. It aims to:

• establish an understanding of the principles supporting the EYFS profile 
• show how they can be used to ensure an effective transition into key stage 1
• promote continuity in learning by ensuring that year 1 teachers are aware of children's achievements and can implement the next steps of their learning
• show how the information from the EYFS profile can be used to support school development. 
   

The downloadable printed materials attached to this page have been updated  to align with advice and guidance contained in the Early years foundation stage profile handbook. The DVD has not been updated since the issues it illustrates are fundamentally unchanged.
